JOHNSON FLUITEN TOGETHER WITH KADANT FOR MIAC 2022: INTO THE FUTURE OF THE PAPER INDUSTRY
During this very important event for the paper industry, which will be hosted in Lucca, the energy question will be the main topic
Less than a month to go before the start of the new edition of MIAC, Italy's most important trade fair for paper, paperboard production and converting technologies, which will take place in Lucca from 12 to 14 October.
Once again, this year Johnson-Fluiten and KADANT are renewing their presence at this leading event, which confirms itself as a real reference for all national and international operators working in the Pulp & Paper sector. Many visitors will come to Lucca from all over the world for their professional updates and strengthen and discover new business opportunities.
THE PROBLEM OF INCREASING ENERGY COSTS
Paper production is one of the most energy-consuming industries in the world, and gas (which is facing huge price increases) is the largest source of energy used; in detail, fossil gas is used to heat water and produce steam, which is used to evaporate the water inside the paper fibres.
The efficiency of the production system is one of the most important key factors in producing paper in a cost-effective way, so it is essential to manage it as well as possible. But what to do now that prices, as remarked by the Financial Times, have risen almost 10 times the average cost level of the last decade?
"Uncertainty" is the key word for paper mills today, which are in great difficulty due to the now unsustainable costs and the reduced availability of methane gas, which does not allow contracts with operators to be closed. This is why a conference entitled "Sustainable and Competitive Tissue Paper Production" has already been scheduled at MIAC (for more information visit https://www.miac.info/convegni/miac-tissue-prima-sessione/ )
WHAT KADANT CAN DO FOR THE WHOLE INDUSTRY
There is no easy solution to this serious problem, and certainly relying on diversified energy sources could be a way, but there is no alternative to trying to improve the efficiency of machines and adopt more and more cutting-edge systems and components that can combine and guarantee more and more sustainability and performance.
The leading companies in the paper industry need to be focused on performance and efficiency at all stages of production, and consequently on finding more and more technological solutions for their machines.
KADANTis a global supplier of engineered technologies and systems that promote sustainable industrial processes. KADANT products and services play a key role in improving efficiency, optimising energy use and maximising productivity in process industries.
The importance of efficient energy consumption in the paper industry has always been a primary focus for KADANT, which not only installs, inspects and repairs drying equipment, but with its knowledge of papermaking processes, is an expert leader in steam and condensate system design.
From machine surveys and system design to advanced control strategies and installation services, KADANT is in a unique position to offer the highest level of support to the paper industry.
AN EVENT NOT TO BE MISSED
Visiting MIAC 2022 means getting a 360° overview of the pulp&paper and cardboard industry's technologies and equipment, from paper and board production to tissue converting.
The most important manufacturers of machines, plants and state-of-the-art solutions for the different stages of the paper and board production and converting cycle will be present.
Below are the opening hours for visitors to the fair on Wednesday 12 - Thursday 13 and Friday 14 October.
Why in LUCCA?
Lucca is the only officially recognised 'Paper Centre' in Europe: more than 140 plants (paper mills and tissue converters), 6,500 employees, 2,000,000 tonnes of paper and cardboard produced (tissue and corrugated cardboard), and 3.5 billion in turnover.
Lucca is also home to major engineering companies supplying technology and services to the paper industry, with a turnover of over 2,600 million Euro and over 8,000 employees.
In Europe, Lucca ranks first in tissue paper production (24%); Italy is also one of the leading nations in the production of corrugated cardboard. This is why today we are talking about the paper industry in Italy and the district of Lucca.
